I have been having some interesting conversations with my Chinese housemate recently. She does not fit my stereotype of an informed Chinese student rebel who is concerned about human rights abuses and resents the government. Perhaps it shows just how effective their propaganda is, but I welcome the different perspectives, as it is always refreshing to challenge our own perceptions. Are we just as subject to propaganda?
I shall join the chorus and echo the gladness that the-dot is back. It reminds me of a time when we were all enthusiastically cutting our pretentious young teeth in what we perceived to be intelligent debate. Those days were new and exciting, and with the misleading indulgence of nostalgia they can seem like better days, but days that were a long time ago, As we grow older we don't have to grow bitter and cynical, we can become less self important and more rational, However those things are not mutually exclusive.
This is really just a test to see if I can create a content. I will try and add a bit more every day but as you all know its not so easy really. But what can you do? We are mere humans after all - and there is nothing particularly special about that!
Friday 7 March 2008 - 23:53: Yu-Gi-WHAT?
Today saw the arrival of some Yu-Gi-Oh! cards I had bought from ebay. It was what seemed like a cunning plan to try and get myself a small amount to be able to join in with the young people I work with at the children's home.
